Q. Why is the park called " Gordon's Park" ?
A. It was named after Prof Gordon Williamson, who lived in "Heather Cottage" just to the East of the park. He, and his wife Margaret, were largely responsible for ensuring that this area of ground was "protected" and made into the great wee park it is today.
They planted many of the trees and daffodils.
Sadly, they have both now died.
.
Q. Where does the village sewerage go ?
A. All the houses from "The Targemaker's" in Main Street, to the furthest West in Charleston, and including Ferry Brae, Bellfied, Drumsmittal Rd, Millbank, etc. drain to the pumping station opposite the bottom end of Bellfield Rd.
It is all then pumped right along to another pumping station near the East end of Point Rd, where it is "chopped up" and pumped into the water just below the lifeboat station.
The Point Rd. houses and Craigton, drain directly to this pumping station.
